Fashion Tip #1: For those of you who still have one or two double breasted suits in your closet, feel free to lint them off and bring them front and center. Trends for the Spring show the Double Breasted Suits making a return to Wall St and Main St. It’s classic, military-style has been out of the spotlight for quite some time. Only time will tell how many men have truly missed it….
Fashion Tip #2: Do you want your clothes to last longer and look better? Don’t over dry clean them! If there are no visible stains on your suit or pant, just get them pressed. The hot steam will pull up the fibers and give the suit new life. Excessive dry cleaning will ultimately deteriorate the fibers and shorten the life of the suit.
Fashion Tip #3: Be more versatile with your wardrobe. If you own an older Pinstripe suit that has made its way to the very back of your closet, wear the jacket with a comfortable pair of Agave Jeans. Add a Gingham pattern sport shirt and a good pair of slip-on dress shoes or even boots. It’s a great look for just about any casual venue!
Fashion Tip #4: If you can’t find a dress shirt or a sport shirt that fits the way you want it to…Consider a custom made shirt. Fashion Tip #5: You wouldn’t put cheap tires and rims on your sports car…Neither should you disregard the accessories for your suit….The difference between dressed and well dressed is in the details. Coordinating the quality and the style of your shirts, ties, belts, and shoes is just as important as choosing a good suit.
Fashion Tip #6: In men’s suiting there’s a move away from the ‘skinny boy’ suit, but that’s not to say slim is out altogether or that a boxy cut has replaced it. Instead, think of a cut that appeals to a military officer, one that accents a sense of the masculine through three key silhouette elements:…broad shoulders… slim waist…and slim trousers. If you can’t find it off the rack…Buy a custom-made suit!
Fashion Tip #7: Proper length of a jacket?..Here’s two points of reference..With the jacket on, let your hands hang freely along the hem of the jacket. Your thumb should be at or very near the hem..Also, while in that same arm position, try to cradle the hem of the jacket along the first or second crease on your fingers. The hem should lift slightly. Too much and it’s too long. If it doesn’t touch, it’s too short.
Fashion Tip #8: During Prom and Wedding seasons this question has been asked several times… Is it proper to place a pocket square and a boutonniere on the lapel of a jacket at the same time?…The answer is No! For the same reason a belt is never worn with suspenders. It’s a fashion faux pas!!
Fashion Tip #9: For Spring and Summer, suits are definitely taking a trimmer sartorial look. Dark, classic, and perennial colors…black, navy, and grey… from light to dark shades… blended with crisp pinstripes, makes for a powerful and head-turning combination! Melluzzo Menswear can make that happen!
Fashion Tip #10: With regard to a more formal or business casual style, an appeal to personality and flair is evident with recent fashion changes in office and formalwear. Fashion Tip #12: The Parisian knot. Here’s how to tie a scarf in a Parisian knot: Take the scarf in both hands and fold it over lengthwise; drape it around your neck; insert the loose ends through the loop hanging in front of you and pull them through. You can play with the tautness of the knot and the thickness of the scarf by doubling the scarf lengthwise.
Fashion Tip #13: Afraid that you might get moth holes on your good wool clothing, but you hate the scent of moth balls or don’t have a cedar closet…Place one or two dryer sheets into the pocket of your garment and you’ll never see a moth, spider, or any other insect near your wardrobe. Plus your clothes will always smell great!
Fashion Tip #14: If you have a special event planned like a wedding or an interview and you’re not sure what to wear…Consider the classic combinations…A solid black or navy suit matched with a crisp white shirt and coupled with a solid black or navy tie. Finish it off with a white-silk pocket square and your timeless look will always turn heads!!
Fashion Tip #15: If you’re one of the many men who have never invested in a suit with a pattern then a pinstripe suit should be your starting place. Easiest to wear in a black with grey / white pinstripe. A pinstripe cloth also provides a great visual trick of making the wearer look taller, so is a must for those men after such an affect.
